Su nombre primitivo fue "calle del Arroyo", denominación que tenía relación con su orientación, que conducía al "Arroyo de María Barranco".

En 1902, el Ayuntamiento acordó variar su nombre rotulándola como "calle del Capitán" dado que la mayoría de los vecinos así la conocían.

En esta calle estuvo instalada la oficina de Telégrafos hasta febrero del año 1924, fecha en la que fue trasladada a la "calle Marbella". Igualmente, se alquiló en ella, por parte del Ayuntamiento, una casa para destinarla a escuela pública.

In 1902, the City Council agreed to change its name by labeling it "Calle del Capitán" since most of the neighbors knew it.

In this street the telegraph office was installed until February of the year 1924, date in which it was transferred to the "street Marbella". Also, it was rent, by the City council, a house for a public school.
